The WineryLocated in the unspoiled beauty of Sardinia, Olianas enjoys perfect conditions to grow native varietals. Our winery and vineyards are located near the town of Gergei perched on a hill surrounded by expansive, pristine views that yield more sheep than people.
The property covers over 86 acres, 62 of which are planted to vineyards. The remainder of the property is used for cultivation of fruit trees and fodder production which helps us feed our carthorses, Vegas and Dinette. |
The VinesOur vineyards sit at 1,200 ft with 62 acres planted to Cannonau, Carignane, Bovale, Vermentino and Nasco. The vineyard density is about 2,200 plants per acre and the average age of the grapevines varies between 10-14 years.
Soil types include clay and sand that can be traced to the Miocene period and provide good ventilation during the summer heat. Diurnal temperature changes generate breezes that dry the air and create optimal conditions for full ripening. |
The PhilosphyOlianas was the first completely Biointegrale wine producing company. Being Biointegrale means following a new concept of ethical farming that requires the return of agriculture to nature. It places an importance on environmental protection as an essential requirement for the future.
Methods include respecting the fundamental principles of biodiversity, eliminating the use of synthetic chemicals, reducing human intervention, choosing rational and traditional farming practices, and favoring the use of animals and plows. |
